We want to engage in discussions on the societal impact of AI, and create a forum to explore how the humanities can help us understand the role of AI in contemporary life.
📍When & Where?
We’ll meet at “El punto de Encuentro” - Josefstrasse 102, 8005 Zürich - a cultural center with a bar and cozy atmosphere perfect for our informal meetings! The reading group will happen at the following dates:
• February 25: Introduction to AI, Culture & Society
• March 26: An AI Society
• April 30: Bias, Justice and Global Power of AI
• May 28: Hidden Labour and Global Power of AI

We are pleased to invite you to another reading group event on March 26th at "El punto de Encuentro" (Josefstrasse 102, 8005 Zürich). We will be discussing a series of short articles that were published in the Winter 2024 collection of the Issues in Science and Technology magazine. With his bandoneon and voice, Santiago Arias presents a repertoire of folklore music from the northwest of Argentina and the Andean part of Bolivia, all approached with a renewed and non-traditional aesthetic.
What sets Santiago apart is his unique ability to blend traditional Andean music with modern styles, creating a sound that's both innovative and authentic. During the concert, Santiago integrates the set with an effects pedal, which adds a new dimension to the music. The result is a dreamlike and ethereal sound that takes the audience on a journey, while still retaining the roots and weight that characterizes Andean music.

Born and raised in Zug, Myla Lei considers herself one of the 'Small Town Girls' with big dreams. As a child, she lip-synced and sang for an invisible audience to all the CDs that could be found in her childhood room. The dream and the urge for musical expression never left her.
And then, 'stuff happened': With 'Grey Cloud,' she experienced her first modest success. The light, sparkling tones and honest words of her debut single marked the beginning for Myla Lei. The lyrics revolve around the grey days that everyone knows, the embrace these days deserve, and the hope for what can emerge from them.
In her latest release, 'Around the Sun,' Myla Lei sings about friendships and relationships that provide strength while showcasing the fun and profundity of life.
